Trollstigen (The Trolls’ Path), Rauma Municipality, Norway

Historically, Trollstigen used to be an important transport passage between the villages Valldal in Indre Sunnmøre and Åndalsnes in Romsdalen. When the road opened in 1939 it wasn’t long before Trollstigen became a tourist attraction. A total of 11 hairpin turns, some carved into the mountain side, in other places built in stone, get you to the highest point 852m above sea level. A road not for the faint of heart!
